Things to Do in Cookeville: Visit Dogwood Park
It was a beautiful, sunny spring day today, so I stopped by the newly opened Dogwood Park in Cookeville. This portion of the park just recently opened, and it's a really nice place to stop off and have lunch on a pretty day. There are plenty of benches in the park, or you can spread out a blanket on the lush green grass and have a traditional picnic. If you don't have time to pack something, the Broad street Deli is right next door. :)
The centerpiece of this portion of the park is the fountain pictured below. It's not on yet, but is scheduled to be turned on right before Easter of 2012. The lack of water didn't stop this little one from having a great time playing in the park.
If beautiful flowers are more your thing, then follow the path around to the left toward the amphitheater. This area is the rose garden, and is maintained by volunteers from the Cookeville Rose Society. There's not much to see right now, but in June that flower garden puts on a tremendous show.
Dogwood Park is located on Broad Street near the historic part of town, and is open to the public daily.

You know your community should be proud of the park. It is quite beautiful.
I can't wait to see photos when it's in bloom! Just the name sounds beautiful!
Tim,
The park stands where a bar used to be. The greenspace is such an improvement over that ugly, run-down building!
Wayne & Jean Marie - I can't wait to see it in bloom too! I'm really curious to see what all has been planted in this new area. Hopefully it will be as beautiful as the rose garden is.
Virginia ...Dogwood park looks like a great place to relax! Have a great day in Cookeville!
