Lifelong Learning and Survival of the Fittest
I've probably never touched on this before, but I'm a huge advocate of lifelong learning and self improvement. I usually spend a few hours each week learning a foreign language and I read at least one non-fiction book per week.
On a professional learning level, I find myself spending huge chunks of time on classes, webinars, coaching, ect. Now, I'll have to admit that hours upon hours of technology classes are not fun. This is the kind of learning I do because I have to, not because I enjoy it.
This is survival of the fittest.
Human technology is evolving at a stunning pace, and it takes serious focused effort to keep up. The real estate market has become extremely competative, and if you want to stay alive in this career field you have to stay on the cutting edge of technology. If you aren't willing to make the effort to stay current, then you will probably find yourself making some very hard career choices in the very near future.
Why do I say this? The way consumers shop for homes has changed dramatically because of the Internet. This is particularly important for listing agents. How can you effectively market a home for sale if you don't know how to use the latest technology? You can't just know real estate and your local market anymore. You also have to be pretty darn tech savvy!
When a client lists their home with you, they are placing a bit of their fiscal well-being in your hands. You owe it to them to be constantly learning and providing them with top-notch marketing.
Still not motivated? Well, someone else's fiscal well-being rests of this too - YOURS!!!
Lifelong Learning now equates to Survival of the Fittest.
